CHAPTER 14: "ANGELS, DEMONS AND SPELLS"

Do angels and demons exist? They certainly do. An angel, which has no wings as it is thought) is a spirit who never lived a life on either Earth or any other planet in this Universe. A demon is a very bad spirit; all demons reside in one place on “the other side,” and can possess a human being, especially a child, a very sick individual or an elderly person. These three are very susceptible, especially when either their positive energy is very low or they have lost faith.

Angels are always depicted as having wings, and this physical form of an angel has been accepted for a very long time. Angels have no wings. Why should they? They need not fly to go from one location to another. All they have to do is to imagine they are where they want to be, and there they are. What is the reason that they have never been born to a life on any planet of our Universe? They are at a very high plane of existence, and there is nothing for them to learn were they incarnated. Their “job” is basically to be advisors to those souls dwelling on lower levels.

The Church can perform an exorcism. This is not limited to only Christians; a demon cares not about the religion of the person he/she possesses. There have been documented cases of people being possessed by demons, and exorcisms have been performed. The film, “The Exorcist” brought all this to our awareness, but much of that film was “Hollywoodized,” but the human is definitely affected by possession. The first sign is a radical change in personality. Of course, the power of God can remove the demon, for God wants us to be happy.

Can a spell be put on one of us? Yes, and I know that from personal experience. I was working in Phnom Penh, Cambodia helping to establish a new language school. One of the workers, a handsome, very nice Cambodian man exhibited his like for me, showing sexual undertones. I spurned all of his advances, since at the time I had a Thai partner living in Bangkok, a man I loved, and still do, with all my heart.

I stayed in Phnom Penh for approximately 3 months and returned to Thailand. It was then I started to get sick; I would get a sore throat, diarrhea, would vomit. This continued for a period of one month. I was very concerned, since up to that time my health was good. One day I was speaking to the Thai wife of an American friend, and she was the one who told me that it was very possible that someone cast a spell on me. Immediately, I thought of the young Cambodian man who was very unhappy with me since I did not “bed down with him.” My friend suggested that I talk with a Chinese monk who she knew had “the gift of insight.” She arranged an appointment for me with this monk, not telling him anything about me. He only knew my name and that I am an American.

I went to the wat (Thai for temple) in the Chinatown section of Bangkok to talk with the monk. As soon as I sat down next to him, he said “You recently were in Cambodia, weren’t you?” Then he said that a young Cambodian man had a spell cast on me. “What can I do?” I asked the monk. He told me that every evening for 7 consecutive evenings I would have to come back to the wat and have holy water doused on me by a group of monks, as they prayed for me. Instinctively, I knew that this would remove the spell. At the end of the seventh evening, I was given a plastic bottle filled with holy water and told that each time I showered at home I should pour some of the water on me. I should continue this until the plastic bottle was empty.

I told my Thai partner what had happened, and he said that I must do as I was told. Of course, I would. I was feeling better after my seventh visit to the wat, but I knew I was not fully recovered. Once that plastic bottle was empty, I was fine. In gratitude, I created a private English class at home for twelve young monks. For several months I taught them once a week. But each week less and less monks would come for English lessons, even though they were free. Eventually, the class was stopped, but I was not the one to end the lessons. That decision was the monks. I only wanted to help them since they helped me, and that is what God wants of each of us - to help each other since we are all one with Him/Her.

I recall an experience I had while living in Thailand. I had gone to a city named Surin to see its yearly elephant show. As I was walking down one of the streets, I saw a large crowd gathered. Being the curious person I am, I inched my way through the crowd to see what they were looking at. There was a young woman, probably about 16 or 17 years of age, on the dirt street, laying there, writhing in pain. The front of her shabby dress was open and all of a sudden maggots started coming out of her body. I had never seen anything like that and to this day still have not. There were thousands of these small creatures coming out of her chest. I yelled to the crowd, “Does anyone speak English?” for at that time my knowledge of the Thai language was non-existent. One young man, who I later discovered was a university student, responded. I walked over to him and first asked whether he saw what I saw - the pouring out of the maggots. He said he had and told me what had happened. It seemed that this young woman was having a physical relationship with a married man and the wife of that man put a spell on the girl. I found that utterly amazing until a spell was cast on me by that Cambodian man.

As mentioned, an angel has never had physical form; angels were created “on the other side” and have always dwelled there. What is their purpose? What do they do? We first must make a distinction between an angel and an archangel. Archangels have taken human form. There are four archangels, just as there are four Messengers of God. The archangel Michael is Jesus, Gabriel is Lord Buddha, Raphael is Moses and Uriel is Muhammad. All religions on Earth differ as to the number of archangels and their identity. It should be noted that Jehovah Witnesses recognize Michael to be the Christ. We can then understand the purpose of archangels, to come to Earth to help us. Angels help us in a different fashion. They are like “super guides” who try to keep us on the right path of our life.

How is it possible that the Creator of this Universe is with each of us all the time and knows what is happening in our lives every day we live? Remember that each of us contains a spark from that energy, and because we all are One with God, it is right that He/She is with us all the time. But, because we were given free will, God does not do anything to affect our destiny. Each of us helped in the decision of which life we were to have, and we saw certain happenings in that life which was what we based our decision on. Which life will be most effective for our soul to continue to learn and grow in strength and brightness?

This really should be Chapter 15. Must have been a typo error.
