CHAPTER THREE - HELPING MANKIND

“I pray that in this life, and in all my incarnations, I do everything I can to help people to understand their worth, to harness their power, to find true
happiness and to reach the Light of Enlightenment.”

This is one of 41 prayers I say each morning, and begin at exactly 4:00AM. I also say parts of the two most important sutras from Lord Buddha. In addition, I pray for 134people who are on this side and 94 dwelling on “the other side.” I mention the name of each one clearly. I believe that all of them benefit from my mentioning their names in prayer, yes, even the deceased. Just because someone has passed on should not mean that we do not pray for that person’s spirit. Of course the spirit benefits from the prayers.

Often spirits will come into my apartment when I pray. I know when my mother is present for she leaves a scent of roses. When she was living she wore a perfume each day named “tea rose.” I imagine that she still does, and she must love passing a rose garden on the other side and smelling them.Sometimes I am visited by Lord Buddha, and I know each time when he is the one saying those sutras and I am not. Nichiren Daishonin, who as I said I know is the name that God had when He/She lived that one life on Earth, would pray both night and day by stating the same prayers I use every day. Of course, his student, life-long companion and high priest, Nikko Shonin,
was with him and said those prayers with him.

As I mentioned, some of those 41 prayers were given to me directly by God
through my friend, the medium. The first series of 13 prayers, of which the
one stated at the beginning of this chapter, I wrote with what I am sure was
through divine inspiration.

I once asked God whether I was going crazy, and I was told that everything
that I am going through, is because I have the soul of Nikko Shonin. The
answer I received was “You are not that smart.”

What is the meaning of the prayer I stated at the beginning? One of my
missions in this life is to help people, which should be the same mission for
every person on this planet. How can I help them to understand their worth?

Many people have low self-esteem. They must realize that to God we are all the same. I try to show them that each of them is worth living; otherwise why would they have helped to choose the life they have? How can I them to harness their power? How do they harness the power that each of them has within - the power they were born with. This is done through prayer, by requesting that God help them to achieve what it is they want in their lives. What is the source of that power? How do I help them to find true happiness, and how do I help them to reach the light of Enlightenment, whatever that is? Of course, I cannot do this myself; I have the help of God when I meet with people. God speaks to them through me.

Understand that I will never put myself at the same level as God’s Four
Messengers, and that the only reason I was selected of all on Earth is, once
again, because I carry the soul of Nikko Shonin. This must be impressed to
all you readers.

Many who come to me have low self-esteem, create and put out negative
energy, do not think that they can change their lives. The very first step to
becoming enlightened is to like, no - love - yourself. How can one go to
that first step? There is a very simple exercise everyone can do every
morning. Look at your face in a mirror and repeat “I like myself. No, I
love myself.” Repeat that 15 times each day. If you do not have a mirror to look into, just repeat the words. At the beginning it will be just words coming out from your mouth. But, after a while, you will begin to believe it.

To you, you are the most important person in the world. Is that ego? Of course, but if you do not love yourself first, you cannot love another. You cannot find true happiness from that of another. It has to come from within. Yes, I know that to all mothers their children come first in their lives. I say that the mothermust come first, because she sets an example for her children.

Compare a negative person to a positive person. Compare a complainer to
one who never complains. What is the better example for a child?

Husbands and wives often stay together even though they have developed
into wanting different things in their lives. They remain together usually for
the sake of the children. Is that right? Of course not. A child does not want
to be witness to parents who argue all the time. I believe that many are
beginning to understand that for the divorce rate in the United States is at an
all-time high. I do not perceive this to be negative but positive. Each one of
us should have self-worth. We helped to select the life we have for a
reason: to experience and learn, even through suffering and pain, as I have
done. We are all equal in the “eyes” of the Creator. After all, we were
created in “His/Her” image.

One of my closest friends, who I will call “Judy” is a very successful businesswoman. Because of her talent in the world of business, she has become quite wealthy. Both she and her husband lived what one would consider “charmed” lives. Dining in expensive restaurants, traveling around the world, jewels and furs, this was their live. Then the inevitable happened. Her husband became quite ill, and at the time of this writing there is talk of putting him in a “home” where he will get the necessary 24 hour attention. Of course, this situation is very draining on Judy. Her “charmed” life was over and reality set in. It is extremely hard for her to cope now. What she will never understand, but her husband does and agrees, that his illness he caused himself, and did it for her. She had to get a glimpse of what life can really be like. No more dining in fine restaurants. No more travel. Now her primary concern is his welfare and what will happen to him.

Whatever problems we have in life we cause. Whatever illnesses we succumb to we created ourselves. But why would we do this? We do it to teach a lesson to those we love, a lesson that could never be learned if illness did not exist. And we all are here to experience and learn. Most people feel that God causes what happens in our lives, and often one will hear “God, why did you do this to me? I was always a good person and now I am sick, poor, out of work, divorced.” They cannot understand that God is not the one to do this to us. We do it to ourselves. So, why then doesn’t God interfere and make all the wrongs right? If that were done we would never learn or help others we are close to to learn.

For me, this is most difficult to explain to people who come to talk to my guide through me. How can one face the fact that whatever is happening in their lives they did it to themselves? It is human nature to blame others, but never to look at oneself and say “I caused this, so how can I undo it?” Can it be undone? Of course, it can. In prayer, when one tells God that he or she is responsible for the illness being experienced and understand that it was done to help someone else, God, in His/Her infinite compassion will help. Never wallow in self-pity. Realize that you caused what sadness you have to face.

After being married 10 years, and for all that time wanting a child, Andrew and Kathy could not have one. Both of them went through every test possible and the results were always the same. There was nothing physically wrong with either of them. So, why couldn’t Kathy conceive? Finally, in their 11th year of marriage, Kathy became pregnant. Of course, she and Andrew were thrilled beyond words. But when the child was born, their joy turned to sadness, for their baby was born blind. How could this have happened? They prayed every day for a healthy child. “Why did God do this to us?” they questioned. God did not do this to them. Their child was born blind for a reason, since there always is a reason for everything that happens in life. A friend of theirs gave the explanation that the child was born blind so he could not see all the suffering in the world. They did not accept that, and both of them came to me for guidance.

I first explained that their child had helped to choose that life, knowing it would be spent in darkness. This was the only way he could experience and learn a lesson he could not have learned had he not been blind. And, both his parents also were taught a lesson because of their child’s inability to see. I remember that we three talked for almost two hours and then they both asked to speak to my “guide.” What I had told them was confirmed, and my guide had told them to feel blessed and not cursed with a child who had this affliction. They both left my apartment with a new understanding and could now understand the “joy in suffering.”

Each of us is constantly being tested by the original source of energy of this Universe, God, and I know that in order to help my fellow man I must bear witness to their tests. Two neighbors, one who lives in the same building as I do and the other has an apartment in the building next to mine, and owned by the same company, I had tried to befriend. Sadly, I found that eventually my friendship to them they denied because they passed judgment on me. I try never to judge anyone for I do not want to be judged. As a result of their actions towards me they have changed their destiny, and now I doubt that either of them will survive the Shift. Am I angry because I am now shunned by both? No, for I can only feel disappointment that they failed the test placed before them. I know that one of my missions in this life and all my past ones was to be of help to all when I can, and I make every attempt to do just that. Sadly, I cannot, nor would I ever, control the actions of others. People make their own choices, for that is what Free Will is all about.

Each one of us is constantly being “tested” by God. In any given situation, a person will react differently than others would. And with every test, there usually is a lesson to be learned. One of my closest friends went on vacation, and while she was away her apartment was burglarized. The news was relayed to her while she was in a foreign country enjoying herself. Of course, my friend was very upset about the situation, and she wondered whether she should end her vacation earlier and return home. I explained to her that God is testing her to discover what she will do. She was enjoying her vacation in a country in which she had never been. I explained that if she went home what could she do? The occurrence was already in the past and nothing was going to change that. When her holiday ended, there was time to face the results of the robbery. Fortunately, she listened to me, finished her holiday and upon her return home took care of what she had to do relating to the robbery. She “passed the test”

Do I practice what preach? One day I left my apartment, and because there was much on my mind, I forget the keys. I discovered this upon my return home. I telephoned the building superintendent, who is part-time working in my building, since he has a full time job during the day. To make matters worse, it was a Sunday. When I called his cell phone, I received a message that it was out or order. Now, I had two choices: to have someone break down the door or to call a locksmith. I called a locksmith, and I was told someone would be there within 30 minutes. He arrived 25 minutes after my telephone call, drilled through the cylinder (which took 2 minutes) and charged me $152.00!!! He would not accept a check, and of course, I did not have that amount of cash on me. I gave him my debit card, knowing full well that there was not enough money in my checking account. The following day, I telephoned the bank to explain what had happened and requested that the money be transferred from my savings account to my checking account. I did that to cover the locksmith charge, but it was too late and I was to be charged an additional $35.00 for a bank fee. Now, I was out $187.00, which at that time was a small fortune for me. For about two minutes I was upset. After all, I am human! But I knew that God was testing me. With that understanding, I accepted what happened, knowing that I would never forget my keys again. I considered myself fortunate that I had the money in my savings account. What would have happened had I not?

This is another example of changing something negative into something positive. I could not change what had happened, and being upset and filled with despair over the money it cost me would not solve anything. The owner of the building knew what had happened, so I assumed that either that night or the following day the part-time superintendent would come to replace the lock on the door. I could not leave my apartment; if I closed the door I would not be able to reopen it and I would be locked out again. It was days that I was a prisoner in my apartment.

I do believe that in many ways I am “enlightened,” but like Lord Buddha, the one thing I will never be able to understand is human nature. Because that superintendent chose to ignore my situation, when he passes on his soul will be condemned to the “gray area” on the other side. There is nothing I can do about that.

How can I be of help to mankind when most people are never satisfied with what they have? Is it human nature to want more? Why people cannot look at each day of their life as a “miracle,” a time to experience and to learn, I do not understand. Many of my neighbors speak negatively about the company which owns the building in which I live and 2 other buildings adjacent to mine. They all pay in rent each month a fraction of what their apartments are worth on the rental market. Yet, they will find any excuse to complain. I have given up trying to make them understand that the owner is not the “devil” they feel it is. I have always been on the side of what is fair, and my feeling is that the owner has been more than fair. I am very fortunate to have been witness to its kindness. But, once again, people are never satisfied with what they have. If they were, they could find true happiness.

Most people feel that it is God whose job is to help mankind. That is not the way it works. When the Supreme Source of this Universe gave man “Free Will,” we were left to our own devices. We were to help each other, one request God asks of us, and one which we have miserably failed to do as an entire Earth population. Every one of us has missions to complete in each of our lives on Earth. One of these missions is the same for all of us. We are here to help each other. That is the reason why in almost every life we have we tend to meet the same “people.” We do this because of an agreement made on the “other side” that in order to help to complete that mission and also to reduce the bad karma we create in each life, we are to work together.

There is a misconception that God is perfect. Another of the many prayers I say every morning is “…….You [God] possess the three enlightened attributes of parent, teacher and sovereign. Your immense mercy transcends past, present and future and lead all people to enlightenment.” Yes, God is our teacher, but He/She is also a student, learning from us. He/She learns from every experience we have in each life and the decisions we make. By helping man, we try to assist people in reaching their destiny. Destiny is not shown when a soul helps to make a decision regarding the life to be born into. The reason for this is that one’s destiny is not set in concrete.

How does a person change his or her destiny? To answer this question, an example is to be provided here. One day a neighbor of mine came to talk with my spirit guide. She was told that the business she is trying to get off the ground will be successful, and was given a time frame for the success. Naturally, she was pleased at what she was told, but her destiny was changed when she made a wrong decision about something. God does not control our destiny; our spirit guides do not control our destiny. Each of us is responsible for that. I tried to help her, and before she made the decision I advised her not to get involved in the life of another. She did not listen, and the result will alter the course of her life.

One of my responsibilities is to help mankind, but I cannot force my advice on anyone, for we each have “Free Will.” I am fortunate for I know what my destiny is to be, and I am doing everything I can to make sure that nothing I do will change that.
